Wedding Day Reviews

Masterpiece Cuisine A+++ - Scott was great to work with. He was patient when I changed our menu and deliver times several times, he always responded to emails quickly, he confirmed a week before the wedding & then the day before. He called my parents the morning of the wedding to confirm delivery time, and they showed up early to deliver the food, explaining to my parents what everything was. We had the tortellini kabobs, cheese stuffed mushrooms, coconut shrimp, chicken bruschetta, gourmet sliders, chicken satay, and two trays - the grilled & chilled veggies and the Mexican tray (chips, salsa, etc). Portions were HUGE & we had lots of food left over. All our guests RAVED about how good the food was.

Mike L Photography A+++ - From the start, Mike L Photography was great. Courtney would respond to my emails literally within 20 minutes each time and was SO friendly. Mike met up with the guys before the wedding and she came and hung out with the girls. They were on time and started taking photos right away. Courtney was very specific about wanting to be sure that I got all the photos that I wanted, and despite the heat I'd say they did a darn good job! I have only seen the sneak peak but already love their work. The only downside was the jerk of a best man who was quite rude to her, but she still managed to be professional and so sweet, and Mike managed to not kick his butt. Without her & Mike, I don't think we could have figured out how to take our wedding cake apart! Haha. Wouldn't hesitate at all to recommend them.

DJ Godzilla A+++ - Another A+++!! Calvin was amazing. He responded to emails and texts right away, his prices were REALLY competitive, he showed up at 2 to set up the equipment and then came back later & didn't charge us extra. I was a bit leary just because he was some random guy that I emailed but he turned out perfect. He played all the songs at all the right times, played the exact music I requested, and had everyone dancing (I was so afraid no one would dance). When we ran in to issues with the MB staff he tried to help and stick up for us/reason with them, but they were quite rude to him. I've talked to him since and he's great. Book him! So glad we went the DJ route instead of the Ipod.

Presidential Limo F - Everyone kept saying Presidential when I asked about Limos so instead of researching other companies, I just called them up and booked. I was quoted about $50/hour for a stretch Escalade limo, and thinking what a good price that was, I booked. A week before the wedding, I called to confirm, and the woman said they had made a mistake in booking - instead of $200, it should have been $450. I was *very* upset as I had budgeted $200 and our budget was already stretched. I got the manager on the phone and all he said was there was nothing he could do, and "I should have known something was wrong when I got that price" - to be honest, I had no idea what limos cost and figured they were just trying to be competitive. I finally got him down to 10% off but I was just too frustrated and upset by his attitude and the fact that our wedding was a week ago that I canceled and ended up finding a new limo company (James with CL Limo).

James with CL Limo B+ - One of my best friends saved the day when I had a meltdown about having no transporation for the wedding. Her friend and just been in Vegas and said he used James and he was awesome. She called him up and explained the situation and he gave us a 15 person stretch Escalade limo for $300 for 4 hours. He was always on time and friendly. He also did my bachelorette party a few nights before the wedding. I gave him a B instead of an A simply because the air conditioning in the limo was pretty much non existant and it was HOT the day of our wedding.

Mandalay Bay  F ----- - When I made the reservation for their Vista Suite, I told them it was for a wedding and they confirmed the room fit about 30 people, comfortably. I researched other brides on here and no one had any issues with noises, complaints, etc, so I figured we'd be good to go.

We hired DJ Godzilla (who was amazing), our guests assemebled, everyone ate, was having a great time, etc. The music was loud, but not so loud that everyone had to yell to be heard - you could have a conversation with people and not have to really raise your voice like you do at nightclubs.

At 9:30pm a security guard knocked on our door and asked us to "Please turn down the music just a little bit" - so we did. 20 minutes later, he knocked again, "Sorry guys, just turn it down a little bit more" - so we did.

A half an hour later, THREE security guards showed up and told us that the front desk had requested they get everyone except for the registered guest to leave the room. It, at this point, was only 10:30 and we had turned the music RIGHT down. We asked if we could just turn the music off and everyone could stay, but nope, they wouldn't budge. I requested to speak to the manager.

The manager of security came up, along with two more security guys. He pulled me aside and said he had to "respect" the guest that was complaining about the noise. I asked him where our respect was, that this was our wedding, that the hotel was aware we were having a reception, and that it was only 10:30pm. He shrugged and literally had no answer. He told me, again, that everyone had to leave. At this point our guests started to get agitated and several came out to try and talk to him but he kept telling them he'd only speak to me and had no interest in talking to anyone else.

My dad came out and asked who was saying everyone had to leave and he said the hotel night manager. We said fine, please send him up so we can talk to him.

The manager finally came up a half an hour later and stood there, SMIRKING, as he told everyone they had to leave. By this point there were about 10 staff members in the hallway, all with their arms crossed, looking at us as if we were criminals. They were all *very* rude, very snarky, non-apologetic even when I said to them, "You do understand this is our wedding day, right?"

All 10 of them stood there, lining the hallways, as all of our guests left. They told our DJ that if he wanted to be welcomed back to Mandalay Bay after this, that he better pack up his stuff and not say a word to anyone. We were *so* embarassed as other guests walked down the halls to/from their rooms and saw this going on. As everyone started to leave, 10 went to 8, 8 went to 5, until there were only 3 left, and they literally stood outside with their arms crossed until the last guest was gone.

Did we have a great wedding? You bet. Was everything perfect? Yes. Are we happy with Mandalay Bay? No way in hell.

We understand that the music was probably loud for that one room. But we did exactly what security asked us to do the first few times - which was turn it down a bit. When they came back the third time, we offered to just turn it off completely, and they wouldn't do that. They all acted like it was a big joke, made us feel like criminals, treated us terribly, without one word of an apology.

The frustrating thing is that our DJ had done EIGHT weddings in the Vista suite previously, none of which had any problems, and all went to the early hours of the morning.

So I'd like to write Mandalay Bay a letter. I'm not sure if it'll do any good but I need to do it anyways. Can anyone give me an email address? I can't seem to find one on the website.

ETA - On another note, our guests all said that up until that point, it was the best receptiont hey had ever been to, and at least we have a good story to tell!

Debi (Fit For A Bride) A - She's so sweet! I had the dress picked up and dropped off and they were right on time. My dress turned out BEAUTIFUL when she was done with it. She forgot to put my veil in the garment bag so called me right away and got it to me right away. Well worth the $130.

Caesars Palace Venus Garden A - So happy we chose this venue. We went with the Roman package which worked out perfect for us. Our wedding coordinator, Lindsay, was very sweet and easy to work with, but it'd take her a couple days to answer emails which was frustrating at times. We didn't do a planning trip so we booked the Venus based on pictures alone and it lived up to everything we thought it would be. My bouquet and my bridesmaids bouquets were EXACTLY like the inspiration picture I sent, and even without the rehearsal, everything went smoothly. Luckily the ceremony was short because it was HOT out. Only downside was the bridal room wasn’t very air conditioned, so I was hot before I even stepped outside.

Cake Designs Las Vegas A - Our cake looked *exactly* like the inspiration pic I sent over, and it was absolutely delicious. We had vanilla cake with strawberry filling on the bottom tier, and fudge cake with chocolate Bavarian cream filling on the top tier. Delivery was right on time. The only thing was that I had requested black ribbon at the bottom of each tier and that wasn't done, but it was a last minute change and to be honest I think it looked better without the ribbon anyways.

Lori White A+ - I loved Lori! I could tell from the start that she was super sweet. She did my hair/make up, which included a trial and the fake eyelashes, and her and her assistant did myself, my 4 bridesmaids, and my mom, on the day of the wedding. They were on time, efficient, and so friendly – we all looked like supermodels! And the hair/make up stayed put all day/all night long, which was great, especially in the heat. I sent her an inspiration photo for my hair & make up and she replicated the look exactly.

Tuxedo Junction B+ - The staff there was very friendly and always responsive, and patient, when I kept changing my mind on the tuxes. The guys all went in to get their tuxes the day before the wedding but 2 were sick so they let them come in the next day early in the morning to get fitted and pick up their stuff. They all looked great! My only issue is that I got an email from them yesterday saying they went to pick up some of the items and they were "missing" so I told them to go back to the bell desk at the hotel, so I'm hoping that they find everything since we brought the items down there & I don't want any extra charges! So we are waiting for that to get sorted out. We dropped the items off a week ago so I’m hoping that they haven’t gone missing or gone to lost and found by this point.

Army Base For Liquor A+ - We were lucky enough that our friend/bartender has a husband in the military, so we used my aunt/uncle’s rental car to drive 15 minutes out of town and get all the alcohol/mix on base, so we were cheaper prices and no tax! Our open bar for about 42 people cost $320 after everything was bought ($150 of that was mix, limes, lemons, a cutting board, stuff to make Bloody Mary’s, etc). Can’t believe how CHEAP liquor is in the states! We got Blueberry Smirnoff vodka for $9 and it’s $22 here.

Vista Suite A+ - All Mandalay Bay issues aside, this suite was gorgeous, and fit our guests comfortably. The views were incredible. We were in 3225, and in the living room we had a view of the entire strip, in the dining area we could watch all the planes take off, and in our bedroom we had a full view of the pool. Our guests couldn’t get over the suite and said it was the perfect setting.

Wicked Spoon Buffet A - We had our meet & greet dinner here the night before the wedding and the food was fantastic - everyone was happy with it. Maureen Chin was so kind and answered emails quickly (can you tell I like when people answer me quickly? Haha). We didn't get a private room but we had 2 big tables of our own in the back. It came to just over $1300 for 35 people and that included some drinks, too.

Overall, we had a fantastic time, and even our issues with Mandalay Bay didn't hinder our experience. We were down there with our closest friends and family, we got married, and it was everything we dreamed it would be.
